The 2024–2025 pilot year of the SMSD Student Chamber of Commerce was launched to provide real support for real businesses - those founded and operated by student entrepreneurs across the Pre-K–12 system. These young business owners are not part of a short-term project; many have been running their ventures since early childhood. Whether rooted in small, local markets or expansive social networks, these students are contributing meaningfully to our region’s economic fabric. The SMSD Student Chamber exists to nourish and grow their efforts so they can continue thriving - after graduation - as part of the vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in Kansas City.

With over 329 students engaged, 78 Market Value Assets (MVAs) earned, and more than 2,300 community supporters, this inaugural year laid a powerful foundation.

As we reflect on our impact and look ahead, we have gathered direct feedback from students, educators, and business partners to shape what comes next. These recommendations build on our momentum and sharpen our focus - ensuring the Student Chamber remains student-led, educator-powered, and deeply rooted in community support.
